Engine and Drive train

 

KAD 16 Valve Twin Cam cylinder head:

  • CNC machined L99 aluminium castings
  • Road spec: small valve 27mm x 23.7mm
  • Race spec: big valve 30.4mm x 26mm
  • DOHC belt driven from crank for 1275cc plus A Series cylinder blocks, std bore to 74mm.
  • 2 x 40 DCOE, 2 x 45 DCOE or Weber Alpha Engine management system
  • Power outputs, small valve 110-150bhp, big valve 150-180bhp according to level of tuning
  • Cam profiles stocked: 

          KAD2 0.360" lift 264 degree duration, 

          L14 0.415" lift 280 degree duration, 

          L1 0.408" lift 306 degree duration, 

          F1 0.412" lift 324 duration, 

          BD4 0.431" lift 316 degree duration. 

          Specials also available

  • Requires flat top pistons, machined for valve clearance, forged pistons recommended.

               

 

KAD Mini 5 Speed Racing Gearbox

  • Face dog type, straight cut gears.

  • Compact gear train fits into a standard rod change casing

  • 1:1 direct top gear, lower torque loss in fifth gear compared to an overdriven 5 speed unit.

  • Dog leg first; 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gears in 'H' pattern.

  • Gears manufactured from S156, an Aerospace VAR steel, selector forks from AB2 aluminium bronze.

  • Ratios: 1st 2.616:1, 2nd 1.989:1, 3rd 1.671:1, 4th 1.294:1, 5th 1:1

  • Input and output spline as standard Mini

  • Supplied with extra bearing support for pinion end of main shaft and centre oil pickup pipe

KAD Mini Alloy flywheel and back plate:

  • CNC machined from 2014A T6 alloy

  • Plasma sprayed friction linings on flywheel and back plate

  • Flywheel has sintered steel centre which is replaceable and reduces tendency to fret on crank compared with steel flywheels when used with EN40B cranks

  • Flywheel ring gear suits either pre-engaged or Bendix type starter

  • Can be used with either fibre or sintered clutch plates

  • Weight: flywheel with ring gear 3.7kg, back plate 1.14kg

Flywheel bolt:

  • CNC machined from EN16 steel: heat treated to V condition

Flywheel keyed washer:

  • CNC Machined from EN24 steel: hardened and tempered

 

 

 

 

 

Mini Suspension parts

KAD's range of suspension parts aim to reduce un- sprung weight in the suspension and driveline to ensure that the tyres remain in contact with the road surface over bumps, through corners and under acceleration and braking. Whilst lightweight components reduce the overall weight of the vehicle, it is the masses which are un-sprung such as the wheels, suspension uprights, brakes, discs and shafts where the most important gains will be achieved in the vehicle's handling.

KAD alloy rear swing arms:

  • sand cast in aluminium alloy L155
  • high strength alloy with good ductility
  • two versions produced, lightweight and ultra lightweight.
  • lightweight: half the weight of a standard steel arm and is suited to light road use, rallying, sprint, hill-climb and heavy circuit use
  • ultra lightweight is used for genuinely feather weight race vehicles
  • compatible with either conventional rubber cone or coil over suspension systems
  • choice of standard 3/8 dia or 1/2 dia stub axles for coil over damper application.

KAD Alloy rear hubs:

  • KAD's rear alloy suspension hubs,
  • CNC machined from high strength 2014A alloy
  • half the weight of the standard steel hub
  • compatible with the Timken type taper bearings.

Alloy top and front sub-frame mountings:

  • prevents unwanted lateral movement between the sub frame and the body of late Mini's. Takes away the excitement of the car steering itself at high speed

KAD alloy handbrake quadrants

  • CNC machined lightweight alternative to the standard steel item usually found nestling under years of grime, rusting peacefully away

KAD adjustable front tie rods

  • Left and right hand threaded to allow adjustment of castor angles without removal of the tie rod from the car

  • Rod manufactured from EN16T steel

  • Greater resistance to bending than the standard items

  • The lower arm mount and the chassis mount are both machined from solid to maximise strength as some of the fabricated mounts on the market have proven inadequate under competition conditions.

KAD anti-roll bars:

  • help to control body roll for both road and race cars
  • two front bars are available both 5/8" diameter: road use with non rod end tie rods and race type which mounts via a pair of weld-in bushes.
  • rear bar allows fitment independently of the sub frame and so can be fitted whether the sub frame is retained or not
  • all of the KAD anti-roll bars fit neatly underneath the car, avoiding the likelihood of the bars being damaged on off road surfaces.

Mini Braking Systems

  Mini 4 pot billet alloy calipers:

  • CNC machined HE30 (6082) extruded billets

  • Improved caliper body stiffness over previous cast caliper

  • Hard anodised alloy pistons

  • Dust seals fitted

  • Single 3/8UNF fluid feed port

  • Stainless bolts and bleed screws

  • Weight less pads 1.26kg

  • Pads available in the following compounds: Standard road, EBC Green, EBC Red, Mintex M1144, Carbon Metallic 83 compound

KAD Adjustable bias pedal box

  • Horizontally mounted, fabricated pedal box which bolts to existing brake master cylinder mounting studs facing forward into engine bay

  • enables the use of independent front and rear master cylinders

  • balance bar assembly to adjust front to rear bias.

  KAD Alloy finned brake drums:

  • Cast aluminium alloy

  • For rear brake use

  • CNC machined from single billet of 2014A T6 aluminium alloy

  • Radial mounting : one caliper version fits 7.9-8.4" diameter discs, widths 10-20mm

  • Differentially sized thin wall stainless steel pistons

  • One piece design minimises caliper body deflection

  • Thin section bridging disc allow bigger disc to be fitted under given wheel size

  • Weight less pads and mountings 1.17kg

KAD quickstick gear levers:

  • Available for rod or remote gearboxes
  • Alters fulcrum point of gearlever to give fast precise shift
